THE Kendal Victoria Winter Bowling League was yet again disrupted by the weather after Sundays Doubles competition was abandoned due to heavy rain.

However while Sundays games were washed out, the Friday Singles League continued on a cold but pleasant day, with action from the games pictured left and right.

With it all to play for in the Friday League, Martin Gilpin continued to lead the way at the top following emphatic wins over Dave McRoy and Joey Bean.

Gilpin, who is still undefeated, saw off McRoy 21-5 before easing past Bean 21-7 in the second game of the afternoon.

In the other games, Alan Gilpin climbed up to second in the table after he defeated John Iddon and Ian Mitchell.

Gilpin, who is only a few points behind the leader, saw off John Iddon 21-2 before picking up an impressive 21-7 victory over Ian Mitchell.

Terry Mercer continued to climb up the table following wins over Peter Blamire and Tim Kings, while Keith Atkinson stayed in contention with a hard fought 21-17 win against Kings.

At the bottom of the table Dave Colloby claimed a crucial 21-17 victory over Molly Hughes before losing by the same score to Alan Medcalf.

Alan Salisbury picked up maximum points in both of his games after he claimed 21-11 victories over Davies Thornborrow and Andy Procter while Harry Sharpe saw off Mitchell 21-19 before losing 21-16 to Stephen Watson.

However, only eight games were played in Sunday doubles league before rain forced the abandonment of play for the day in what was the last round of games before the Christmas break.

With very little action, Sandy Glaciers won both of their respective games, while The Mere, Penrith Pilgrims, Allithwaite, Jam Kings, The Glip & Son, Sue Von Wyatt and Blackstones also picked up maximum points.

The Kendal Victoria Winter League continues after the Christmas break.
