DAWN Wright retained the Ladies Open Pool Trophy after she defeated Susan Piling 4-3 in a dramatic final at The Albion Snooker Club in Kendal.
The competition, which attracted a higher number of participants than expected, started off with a round robin group stage with both Wright and Piling progressing to the final.
Piling, who was the Greater Manchester representative, pushed defending champion Wright in a topsy turvy game which led to a tense deciding frame.
However after an unlucky shot by Piling, Wright held her nerve to retain the trophy.
