He defeated Molly Hughes 21-6 in the first game before battling past Dave Colloby 21-11 in the second match of the afternoon.
Alan Gilpin remains in second place after suffering an agonising 21-20 defeat to Paul Crossland in his second game.
It was doubly disappointing as he had started the day with a win when he saw off Tim Kings 21-14.
In the other games, Harry Sharpe claimed victories over Davis Thornborrow and Molly Hughes, while Keith Atkinson defeated Chris Wyatt and Ian Mitchell.
Kings defeated Hughes 21-11 before battling past Thornborrow 21-12, while the other stand out result saw Mick Simpson claim hardf ought wins over Steve Ashburn and John Iddon.
In the Doubles League, The Gilp and Son remained top of the division after winning their 11th straight game.
Glipin and Son defeated Allithwaite 21-5 before claiming a crucial 21-19 victory over fellow title contenders The Sandy Glaciers.
