THE efforts of Kendal Ladies 1s proved to be in vain on Sunday as they went down to a 4-1 defeat at Stokesley.

The reverse in a rearranged North Premier Division One clash leaves the Greens in ninth spot in the table.

A battling display from a youthful Kendal 2nds team consisting of only three senior players and including some under 14 players competed well against a senior Ulverston side.

They battled all the way and deserve great credit as they went down to a narrow 2-0 defeat.

Windermere Ladies maintained their fourth place in the Lancs Central Women’s League Prem Division with a 6-3 win over Longridge Ladies 2s.

Sarah Hartley scored the opener in a positive start for Mere but sloppy play allowed the visitors to level and then go ahead before half-time.

Mere regrouped and drew level with a fine penalty corner strike by skipper Abbey Carroll, and she then linked with Kitty Carr at another penalty corner to give them the lead.

Midfield dynamo Hannah Clark scored her debut goal of season, Kitty Carr added a fifth from another short corner and Kitty Brownell ran through the Longridge defence to bag a sixth.

Longridge pulled one goal back through a penalty corner at the close but the result was never in doubt.
