Lymm dashed Windermere Men's 1s' hopes of a return to winning ways on Saturday.

The Cheshire side just had the edge on the Lakes boys with a closely fought 3-2 victory.

Both Mere goals were scored by skipper Adam Whitehead and their focus now turns to an all-Cumbria home clash with Keswick next Saturday.

Keswick are just below Windermere in North League 2 West.

Two penalty corner drag flicks undid Windermere Men’s 2s bid for victory at Lytham 2s.

Joint man-of-the-match Jack Spiby fired Mere ahead soon after the start with a well taken reverse stick strike, and they looked like adding more goals.

However, Lytham steadied their ship, equalised from a penalty corner and then went ahead from another.

Mere stretched the home side with some tidy passing hockey but could not find the finishing touch despite inspired movement up front by their other man-of-the-match Pierce Harris.

Lytham now top NW League 4NN, one place above Kendal 2s, who had hoped Mere could do them a favour on their day trip to the seaside.
