THE postponement of the local derby between Kendal County and Milnthorpe in West Lancashire League Division One summed up a miserable day for all local teams.

A waterlogged pitch frustrated the rivals as they couldn’t get the fixture played.

The only game to survive saw Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves bow out of the Stewart Rowe Memorial Cup after they lost 3-1 to Fulwood Amateurs A Team.

Milnthorpe started well enough and were 1-0 up after just three minutes when Jamie Parkinson scored.

Fulwood battled back when Lucas Weaver scored two in 12 minutes, before Adam Dodd extended the visitors advantage on 32 minutes.

And the visitors saw out the second half as they progressed into the next round of the competition.

Kendal County travel to play Eagley on Saturday and Milnthorpe Corinthians host Ulverston Rangers, while Kendal United are set to play the Benevolent Trophy game against Keswick at Fitz Park.

Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves are away to Fulwood Amateurs A Team,.

All West Lancashire League games kick off at 3pm, while Kendal United’s game is likely to get under way at 2pm.
