AFTER a tournament was introduced to a pub in Kendal to raise money for a local charity, a man emerged the victor after a close match-up.
Tony Newell won The Tom Berry Memorial Shield after he defeated Steve Brewer 3-1 in the final.
The annual charity darts competition, which was held at the Rifleman’s Arms in Kendal, proved to be a competitive but friendly event which raised £404.50 with the proceeds being donated to St John's Hospice.
And the shield, which has been an annual event since 2013, was dedicated to Tom Berry who was a friend and member of the Castle Inn Darts team before he sadly passed away in 2012 after a long illness.The tournament to this date has raised over £4000 for St John's Hospice overall, with everyone already planning for the 2021 event.
St John’s Hospice provides free palliative care to patients with life shortening conditions. Its services cover North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire.
