Barrow AFC face a longer wait than expected to find out their fate, after National League officials delayed a decision on promotion and relegation this week.

The National League had widely been expected to decide who the relegated and promoted sides from the league will be this week, but league chiefs have now signalled they will wait until the English Football Leagues (EFL) make a decision first.

Bluebirds captain Josh Granite has admitted this is an anxious time for himself and his teammates as they wait to learn whether they will be promoted to League Two.

Granite believes the Bluebird's efforts, which saw them finish the season four point clear at the top when the season was cancelled, should be rewarded.

“I believe that two teams should still gain promotion to the football league," he said.

“I believe that by this stage of the season the table represents your performance levels over a long period of time.

“If I was playing for a team in the relegation zone, if I was honest with myself I would know that you had got yourselves into that predicament, that situation and the problems caused by performance not being good."
