MILNTHORPE football is facing an uncertain future due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

Milnthorpe Corinthians AFC, along with many non-league football clubs, has lost vital income from games and functions since the early termination of the 19/20 season.

With so much uncertainty the club is trying to raise funds through their gofundme page as well as seeking donations.

Dave Dunderdale, who is leading the club's fund raising efforts, said: “We are aiming to raise funds to bridge the gap for the club due to the ongoing pandemic.

“The club has masses of expenses and has lost a lot of revenue with the downfall of this terrible pandemic.

“We would be extremely grateful for donations on our gofundme page.

“However, we are also seeking match day sponsors as well as sponsorship of our tracksuit, training kits and polo shirts while at the same time ground board adverts are also required and as you can see the list is endless.

“We do have ongoing plans to upgrade our facilities as we enable the club to progress up the league, while first and foremost we need to develop a new toilet block to progress further."

The club is hoping to be able to get back to the new season around August/September but is also prepared to start later as the country tries to get back to some sort of normality.

Milnthorpe has been an integral part of the local community since its foundation in 1889 and as well as the football teams, the club provides facilities for other local sports teams while the clubhouse provides community facilities and social events.

On the pitch Milnthorpe, under the management of Jimmy Marshall, were making good strides. However despite a positive start to the season, injuries disrupted their team until Christmas when they began to recover.

Despite the disruption, the first team were confident of mounting a serious promotion push with the games in hand they had over the other clubs.
