GOLFERS continue to tee off - from a safe social distance - as clubs reopen across Cumbria.
Kendal Golf Club, Carus Green golf course, Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club, Sedbergh Golf Club, Casterton golf course and Windermere golf course have all reopened to the public.
Elsewhere in Cumbria, clubs in Ulverston, Silverdale, Grange-over-Sands, Cockermouth, Dunnerholme and Beckside have also reopened since the Prime Minister said people could enjoy unlimited exercise and amended lockdown rules allowing some outdoor sport.
In addition, Penrith Golf Hub, Bentham Golf Course, Grange Fell Golf Club and Appleby Golf Club have also reopened.
“Individuals may play golf on their own or in two-balls comprising of individuals from different households," said a spokesman for England Golf, the governing body for amateur golf in England.
“At the discretion of the golf club, members may play in two, three or four-balls.”
Sport venues across the country were closed in March when the Government imposed the lockdown to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Golf venues in Wales and Northern Ireland have also reopened but remain closed in Scotland.
