KENDAL cricketers came away with a victory over Morecambe at the start of their cup campaign.

The second team defeated Morecambe by 17 runs at Woodhill lane in a hard-fought match which saw Oliver Killiners as top scorer with 65.

Kendal kept the game competitive with 182-5 off 40 overs, with Tommy Clough returning figures of 3-24 for the hosts.

They followed with a well bowled effort and restricted Morecambe to 165-9, with Matthew Park returning figures of 3-22, whilst Alec Carradus and David Batty picked up 2 wickets apiece.

Batty finished as second highest scorer with 56.

Andrew Creech scored 78, however once he picked Joseph Dodds off the bowling of Matthew Park, Kendal were able to push on for the win.

Netherfield lost by eight wickets to a very skilled Longridge team in their match at Parkside Road.

After they were put on bat first and struggled after being bowled out for 70.

Scott Clement was the only one to reach double figures and took an undefeated knock of 33.

Longridge bowled well with Rory McDowell closing on figures of 4-18, with William Vause and Caleb Bradford picking up two wickets apiece.

Netherfield battled in the second innings but with a low score to defend, Longridge eased to victory in 18 overs as they finished on 73-2.
