The Kendal Leisure League had hoped to return sooner rather than later.

But unfortunately, like every grassroots sport, they have now been forced to suspend play following the country’s return to a national lockdown.

The lockdown is currently expected to continue until mid-February.

Despite hopes in early December that some sports could continue, these hopes had to be discarded when the New Year lockdown came into effect.

However, before all of the restrictions came into force, the league managed to get one last round of action in on an eventful night at Kendal Rugby Club's 4G facility.

The night's performances gave the league a strong send-off before the games were halted.

In the Premier Division, Salt and Pepe are two points clear at the top after they battled past AFC Pink 2-1.

The Eagles remain in second place but continue to close in on the leaders.

Their position was confirmed after they defeated ML City.

The game saw a very dominant performance which resulted in a 6-1 victory for the Eagles.

MK Bongs claimed their first win by defeating Lakes Athletic 3-2.

Meanwhile, Tinchy Sneijder and CD Constancia battled out an entertaining game which saw the teams fight for every goal.

The game ended in a 3-3 draw, but the teams were praised for their effort.

KV319 reached the top of Division One after seeing off Top Bins in a 3-1 game.

However, despite their accomplishment, three other teams are currently two points behind the leaders, after Delph and Safety, FH Argle and SS Standard Liege all claimed important wins.

Delph and Safety are second on goal difference and they battled past SDCC 2-1.

FH Argyle found success as they routed URG Toulouse 4-0.

More success was found by Liege as they defeated Slightly Athletic in an impressive back-and-forth game which ended in a 5-3 win.
