Kendal Town Football Club’s Parkside Road Stadium has hosted Morecambe Under-18s' Youth Alliance League games with Blackpool and Salford City.

The Under-18s, who fall under the elite category, have been allowed to play throughout the national lockdown under the current Government guidelines, while Kendal Town have hosted Morecambe’s young team in an arrangement which has gone on for the last five years.

Morecambe, who are managed by Stewart Drummond and Neil Wainwright, have seen a raft of talented players progress such as Leif Davies, who now plays for Leeds United, while Freddie Price is involved with Morecambe’s first team.

Kendal have in previous years benefited from the arrangement with Morecambe where a number of players have been on loan with the Mintcakes, while various friendly games with Morecambe’s academy and reserve teams have also been played.

However, this season has been hugely disjointed with the Under-18s playing the majority of their home games at Lancaster and Morecambe College due to bad weather, with the team now set for a run of six home games at Parkside Road.

Morecambe have suffered at Parkside Road over the last fortnight, where they lost 3-0 to a very strong Blackpool team with first half goals by Taty Trust, Brad Holmes and Rob Apter guiding the visitors to victory.

However, last Saturday Morecambe were left frustrated after they were held to a 1-1 draw against a Salford City team who played a majority of the game with 10 men after one of their players was sent off.

Both teams didn’t do enough in a game where chances were limited, while Morecambe had a goal ruled out for offside.

Despite Ayo Shogbeni scoring from a corner with just six minutes left, Salford did not let the game go and equalised just before full time from the penalty spot.
