NETHERFIELD and Kendal were left frustrated by the rain after both their games were called off on a wet and miserable afternoon.

Netherfield, who was due to play Longridge in the battle of the top two, made the short journey down the M6 before being greeted by a water-logged outfield, with the game postponed at 12 noon.

Kendal also suffered the same fate with their game at Morecambe postponed soon after with both clubs taking 5 points each.

However, despite the frustration every game in The Northern Cricket League was postponed with no other team making any ground.

Netherfield can look back on a very impressive start to the early stages of their season winning all three of their games.

The Field have already seen off, Lancaster, Fleetwood, and St Annes, with some very good performances from the whole squad including Shrikant Mundhe, Ben Barrow, Matt Jackson, Ritchie Forsyth, and Isaac Medhurst.

The team from Parkside Road, will soon be strengthened following the arrival of Overseas Amateur Daniel Bernet who will be making his debut in due course.

Bernet who was going to join last season before Covid hit the league campaign will be keen to make an impact for the team as they look to continue their good run of form.

Kendal on the other hand have made a steady start to their season picking up a winning draw with Chorley, before winning away at Fulwood & Broughton.

However, the Auld Greys will want to bounce back quickly from their defeat to Blackpool two weeks ago.

The Club gave a debut to Sri Lankan Professional Chalana Da Silva in the game against Blackpool, and Da Silva made a good impact more so with ball in hand after taking two wickets on debut.

Both Teams will be hoping for better weather, as Kendal host Fleetwood, while Netherfield travel to play Garstang.

Fleetwood played Netherfield two weeks ago and lost by 180 runs however since that game they picked up an impressive 51 run victory at defending League champions Leyland where former Kendal and current Northamptonshire County Cricket player Jack White impressed as their sub professional, after scoring an undefeated 91 with the bat before claiming figures of 4-46.

Garstang defeated Netherfield in the 40 Over Cup two weeks ago, with Ben Barrows team keen to bounce back from the setback.

The hosts are likely to be with a sub professional while they wait for the arrival of Zimbabwean International Roy Kaia.
