A KENDAL man has turned down the offer to become chairman of a football club after deciding he would be unable to carry out his duties 'with due diligence'.

Alvin Finch said he was 'honoured' to have been asked to take on the role at Kendal Town Football Club.

However, he felt he would have been 'unable to devote the time necessary' to the position.

"Accordingly, I feel I must decline the offer," he said.

Mr Finch is a town councillor and was mayor of Kendal for two years before handing over the reins to Cllr Doug Rathbone earlier this year.
