CHAMPIONS Kendal rugby club plan to make it a 100 per cent winning season in North Divison One when they take on Sheffield Tigers at 3pm Saturday.

The final game of their league campaign will allow them to parade the cup, which they clinched at Altrincham Kersal last weekend, before the large and vociferous crowd that has supported them all season.

Meanwhile, on the football front, Kendal Town also play their final home match of the UniBond Premier League season tomorrow. Matlock Town are the visitors to the Lakeland Radio Stadium Parkside Road and the match starts at 3pm.

The red cross of St George will be much in evidence in Great Langdale tomorrow when hundreds of runners take part in popular St George's Day 10k. The race and short fun run start at noon.

The Lakeland Trails season also begins tomorrow with the Hawkshead Trails Festival from 10.30am. Various courses from a short fun run to a 15k race are on offer.

LONG-distance fell runners will be heading for Barbon Village Hall for the 7am start of the 24-mile Barbondale Round.

Cricket starts this weekend with Netherfield at home to Barrow in the Northern Premier League tomorrow. Kendal have a bye week.

The forests of the Borders region will roar to the sound of highly tuned engines this weekend. Cars will head out from Carlisle into Kershope and Kielder forests at 7.45pm Friday for the Pirelli International Rally, which finishes back in the city centre 24 hours later.
