MILNTHORPE Corinthians continued their unbeaten run in the league with wins over the top and bottom sides in the West Lancashire Football League.

Last Wednesday Cors faced table-topping Fleetwood Hesketh and ran out 4-2 winners, before defeating Crosshills 2-0 on their travels.

The good week started just five minutes into Wednesday’s match when Matt Longden slotted home from the penalty spot and it was 2-0 before long.

Fleetwood were reduced to ten men after 10 minutes and Gary Hartley extended the advantage when Andy Wilkin’s shot deflected off the crossbar.

The visitors pulled a goal back before half time but Chris Vincent restored the two-goal lead on the hour mark.

It was 3-2 with ten minutes to go but a Sean Palmer goal five minutes from time sealed a 4-2 home win.

Cors then put two set piece goals past Crosshills on Saturday to move into seventh in the league, and now appear to be turning the corner after a torrid start to the division one campaign.

They are now playing with confidence and have gone five games unbeaten. Next up for Cors is a tricky home tie against Hesketh Bank.
