It turned out to be a highly competitive afternoon of action in the Westmorland Football League.

In The Senior Challenge Cup quarter finals, County Cup holders Keswick progressed into the last four of the competition thanks to a narrow 1-0 win at Division One League Holders Appleby.

Keswick, who are still undefeated in all competitions, won this very tight contest thanks to a Jamie Little strike.

The other cup games proved to be just as competitive as Scott Singleton's goal saw Milnthorpe Corinthians win 1-0 at Wetheriggs Utd.

Division Two side Burneside are also through following a 2-1 win at Coniston, Sean Atkinson and an own goal seeing the visitors through.

And Cartmel and District defeated Unisun Athletic 9-0. Cartmel will face defending cup kolders Keswick in the semi finals

In the Benevolent Trophy, Ibis book their place in the semi-finals after winning 3-2 at Sedbergh Wanderers.

Daniel Poslethwaite, Cory Robinson and Darren Nightingale scored the crucial goals. Luke Packham scored twice for the hosts.

Kendal Utd Reserves came from a goal behind to defeat Ibis Reserves 2-1 in the quarter finals of The Junior Cup.

Ibis got off to a great start in the opening minutes as Sam Mason scored. However, goals from Matt Kennedy and Aiden Dent sealed Kendal's place in the next round.

Kirkoswald went to within seven points of league leaders Keswick in Westmorland League Division One after they edged out Ambleside Utd 3-2.

Penrith Reserves defeated Kendal County Reserves by the same score in the only other Division One game to be played.

Penrith are up to eighth place while Kendal County Reserves remain second from bottom.

Westmorland League Division Two Leaders Wetheriggs Utd Reserves pulled clear of Kendal Utd Reserves, winning 5-3 in a high-scoring contest at Langwathby Utd.

Dent put nine goals past Ambleside Utd Reserves in a 9-2 win, Shap drew 1-1 with Greystoke, Carleton Banks edged out Keswick Reserves 2-1 while Braithwaite and Endmoor drew 0-0.

Eden Thistle went seven points clear at the top of Westmorland League Division Three after a 3-1 home win over Ullswater Utd.

Brett Croskell scored four goals in Burneside Reserves' 6-0 win at Greystoke Reserves. Nathan Carradice and Ryan Nightingale rounded off a dominating performance.

Kirkoswald Reserves won 8-1 at Penrith Saints, while in the Peter Daws Memorial Shield Lunesdale Utd Reserves defeated Penrith Royal 4-0.

Windermere Reserves are also progressing in the same competition after a 2-0 home win over Dent Reserves.
