ON-LOAN Kendal Town forward Steven Yawson is expected to see out the season at the Pye Motors Stadium, according to Mintcakes boss David Foster.

Yawson, who has five goals in five appearances for Kendal, originally arrived on a one-month loan deal from League Two side Morecambe in January.

Those terms were set to expire following Saturday's fixture with Tadcaster Albion which ultimately fell foul of the weather. But Foster has said the speedy striker will remain with the Mintcakes on a work experience arrangement.

"He's with us for the rest of the year but Morecambe as his parent club have the right to call him back," said Foster.

Yawson, a second-year scholar with the Shrimps, made an instant impact at Kendal with a hattrick on debut against Droylsden in a 5-0 win followed by a brace next time out as the Mintcakes beat Colwyn Bay 2-1. He has not scored since though as the side embarked on a three-match losing run.

"He gives us a different attacking option," added Foster. "With his pace and directness we're delighted to have him for the rest of the year if that's how it works out."

The Mintcakes were given a weekend off with the waterlogged pitch last weekend, but now face a double header with a trip to Prescot Cables on Saturday before hosting Burscough on Tuesday night.

Kendal have beaten Prescot twice this season already in the league and cup, but Foster has warned his team will come up against a different challenge this weekend.

He said: "It's a different set up there now. They're very different and much improved. There's been quite a big turnover and it will be a really tough game – it's not an easy place to go.

"They're third from bottom but since Christmas they've been a different side. We want to go there and get three points but it will be tough."

Foster painted a similar picture for Tuesday's opponents as well but added with being at home the Mintcakes will be gunning for the win.

"They've turned a lot of people over as well," he said. "Again they won't be easy but at home that's certainly a game we would hope to have enough about us to get the three points."
