KENDAL Town's season ended on a sour note as they lost 5-0 to Farsley Celtic at The Pye Motors Stadium.

Despite the emphatic victory, Farsley were consigned to the play offs as Lancaster City clinched promotion in their win at Glossop North End.

Kendal were never in the contest and were behind after just three minutes when Paul Walker blasted home James Walshaw’s shot that rebounded off Will Kitchen.

Farsley were a class apart as Kendal toiled throughout the first half, with the Celts creating plenty of opportunities through Adam Clayton whose header clipped the cross bar, while Lewis Nightingale, James Walshaw and Walker all forced Kitchen into action.

Kendal were unable to retain any possession in the attacking third leaving Celtic shot stopper Graeme McKibbin with very little to do.

Farsley made it 2-0 after 26 minutes when Nightingale fired the ball home from close range when he had been left unmarked in the box.

The visitors piled on the pressure, and forced a lot of free kicks and corners that were cleared by the Kendal defence.

Farsley scored their third goal on the stroke of half time when Richard Marshall drilled the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

Kendal continued to struggle during the second half as Walshaw slotted the ball into the net after running onto a good pass by Nightingale.

Farsley created further opportunities through Nightingale, Walshaw and Ryan Watson whos effort was cleared off the line.

However Farsley scored their fifth and final goal of the afternoon when Nightingale powered the ball past Kitchen.

Kendal's best opportunities came late on through Matthew Dudley who forced McKibbin into action on two occasions however David Foster's team were outclassed as they finished the season in twelfth place.
