Kendal Town 2

Ramsbottom 1

SUPERSUB Stuart McDonald came off the bench to score the winning goal for Kendal Town against Ramsbottom United on Tuesday night at The Pye Motors Stadium.

The Town captain, who was returning to the side from injury, made an instant impact when he toe-poked the ball home after 77 minutes to make the difference in what was a very tight and competitive game.

Connor Gaul had opened the scoring for Kendal after just four minutes. However, Ramsbottom replied through Bradley Roscoe.

This victory was more than welcome as it came on the back of Saturday’s disappointing defeat at Glossop North End.

Speaking following that game, manager David Foster said: “It was one of those afternoons where we deserved something from the game and didn’t get it. We feel a draw would have been a fair result.

“There were one or two decisions that didn’t go our way. There were one or two occasions where we felt their players were lucky to stay on the pitch and there was a bit of a question mark over one of their goals.

“We did feel we played well enough to get something out of it. We did play some good stuff, but we also switched off a couple of times.”

The win leaves Kendal in 14th place in the league ahead of a trip over the Pennines to take on ninth-placed Tadcaster Albion on Saturday.
