KENDAL Town manager Michael Stringfellow insisted that his side must capitalise on their win over Droylsden and get some consistency back into their season when they face Prescot Cables on Saturday.

The Mintcakes won 4-3 when they visited the Greater Manchester side at the weekend, their second away win on the bounce.

But the victory was only their third the end of September and Stringfellow is keen to see the team rediscover the form they had at the beginning of the season, when they were unbeaten in the first seven matches.

The Kendal boss said: "We are not far off reaching a good place in the table, all we need to do is find that consistency we had at the start of the season.

"Prescot is a winnable game certainly but they will be very difficult to beat because of their physical presence, we know we're going to have to find a way to deal with that. They are always dangerous.

"These are the kind of games we need to win though because we've been doing really well away from home recently and it's about time we started doing that at home."

In their last meeting with Prescot Kendal were held to a 2-2 draw following a solid streak where they only lost one in the first ten matches.

Prescot now lie five points adrift of Kendal in fifteenth place after only managing to win six games this season.

The away form of the cables has been their biggest downfall and after what Stringfellow said was the worst performance of the season against Ossett Albion two weeks ago, he admitted this was the perfect time to fix their home form.

He said: "The loss to Ossett Albion was probably our poorest game yet and we really need to use this next game to put things right at home.

"I thought we played really well on Saturday, especially considering the conditions we were faced with, but we've got to bring that counter-attacking style to our home matches as well as our away ones."

A few new faces made appearances for Town against Droylsden following the suspension of Chris Smalley and Tom Killifin being in Mexico.

Nathan Bondswell, on loan from Morecambe, scored on his debut and Stringfellow said he was generally impressed with the much-changed side.

He said: "I thought we coped really well bearing in mind there were a few new faces and I'm delighted we managed to score some goals in a really fantastic performance.

"Obviously we were disappointed to concede goals at the end but it got to the stage where we were not putting our chances away and it gave them an element of hope.

"The conditions were challenging though, they really didn't help and we had Jordan Connerton go off injured as well. Overall we did defend well and it was a really pleasing performance that I hope we can take forward against Prescot."
