A RICHIE Sandham treble helped Milnthorpe Corinthians on their way to an impressive opening day win in Division Two of the West Lancashire Football League.

The Corinthians made the trip to Swarthmoor Social Club and came away with the three points following an 8-1 demolition job.

Sandham's hat-trick, alongside a double from Peter Baxendale and strikes from Elliot Bousfield, Michael Packham and Will Wilson secured the comfortable win.

Elsewhere in the division Furness Cavaliers and Kendal County played out a goalless draw.

But within five minutes Charnock had pulled level when a pinpoint cross from the left hand side was headed home by Carl Grimshaw.

Grimshaw added another shortly after half-time and grabbed his hat-trick on 65 minutes. Jack Bennett rubbed salt in the wound with twenty minutes left before Grimshaw added his fourth in the last moments of the match at Longlands Park.

Adam Richardson levelled for Poulton - but Jefferson added his second and Ryan Brown and Jonathan France got their names on the scoresheet to secure the win.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Tom Reede, a product of Hurst Green's youth team, scored the only goal of the game as the edged past Dalton United 1-0.
