It was a double header of action in The Westmorland Football League as midweek games returned.

The battle for the title in Westmorland League Division One continued to heat up as both Keswick and Kendal United remained locked on the same number of points, Keswick leading the way on goal difference.

At the weekend, Kendal United won 5-3 at Appleby, before they dominated Ibis on Tuesday night in a 5-0 win. Andy Lockhart scored a brace in the midweek rout, while Bailey Kenny, Danny Craig and Brandon Croskell Robinson also found the net.

Keswick were in cup action on Saturday as they reached the Benevolent Trophy Final after defeating Ibis 2-0. Andy Rigg scored both the goals.

The cup semi final win was followed by a commanding 7-0 win at a struggling Kirkoswald on Tuesday night.

In the other Division One Games, Sedbergh Wanderers picked up six points, after they edged Wetheriggs United in a 2-1 win, before they routed struggling Kendal County Reserve 6-1 on Tuesday. Luke Packham was among the goal scorers.

Kendal County Reserve picked up a point with a 2-2 draw with Penrith Reserve at the weekend. Jordan Knowles and Tom Ladds scored the goals for County.

Appleby bounced back from their defeat to Kendal United, as they won 5-2 at Lunesdale United on Tuesday. Antony Lund and Josh Richardson both got braces, while Matt Branthwaite also found the net.

Ambleside United defeated both Unisun Athletic and Windermere 3-1, while Wetheriggs United saw off Unisun Athletic 2-0 in the midweek encounter.

In Westmorland League Division Two, Endmoor KGR won 4-2 at Greystoke, with Matthew Wilson scoring twice.

Dent sauntered past Carleton Banks in a 4-1 win, while Braithwaite defeated Ambleside United Reserve 6-0.

Pirelli won 4-1 at Kendal United Reserves, while Langwathby Utd and Burneside battled out a 2-2 draw. Keswick Reserves saw off Staveley United with a 2-0 win. Penrith Academy were held to a 1-1 draw by Greystoke Reserve.

Eden Thistle surged 11 points clear at the top of Westmorland League Division Three as they put eight past Endmoor KGR Reserve at Woodhill Lane.

AFC Carlisle defeated Dent Reserve 2-1 on Saturday, while Dent Reserve bounced back with a 1-0 win at Endmoor KGR Reserve on Tuesday.

Kirkoswald Reserves climbed up to second in Division Three after a 5-2 win over Ibis Reserve, Ullswater Utd won 2-0 at Lunesdale United Reserve, while Penrith Academy and Greystoke drew 1-1.
