A DEPLETED Kendal Ladies 1s slipped to a 3-0 defeat in a North West Premier Division One clash at Lindum on Saturday.

Due to a number of commitments, just 10 players made the three hour journey to Lincolnshire, but they were at least able to fulfil the fixture and avoid a forfeit.

And one of those players, Bec Barnes, had just finished her night shift before she was called up to help the first team and made the journey, so deserves every credit for her dedication.

With no goalkeeper available, captain Vicky Whalley-Jones transferred her attacking skills for a more defensive role as she stepped up to the role.

The team worked hard throughout the whole match but the lack of numbers and key players inevitably took its toll and the Green slipped to a 3-0 defeat.

However Hannah Wright, Laura Morris and Mel Whalley-Jones battled hard in defence while Emma Reid, Roberta Anderton and Karen Tyson were tireless across the midfield.

The team are at home against University of Durham's 3rds on Saturday with pushback at Queen Katherine School at 1pm.
