AMBLESIDE Ladies made amends for their 2-1 away loss to Keswick in the Cumbria League at the start of the season.

In a positive start, the home team opened the scoring after ten minutes when Kim Lupton deftly netted in a cross from Sheelagh Newell.

Ambleside continued to dictate the game and were further rewarded when Chelsea Daley, in fine form, swept past the visitors’ defence and a cracking shot rattled into the back of the goal.

The lead became 3-0 when Alison Westworth’s first touch as substitute saw her drive the ball from just over halfway down the right wing before cutting into the D and firing past the surprised keeper.

Keswick scored with a counter-attack minutes shortly before half time to make it 3-1 at the break.

Ambleside were over-run by the visitors at the start of the second half, but Daley showed her fine attacking skills, taking on defenders to score from another tremendous shot at a tight angle for a fourth Ambleside goal.

Although Keswick pulled one back, Daley compelted a deserved hat trick after she was put clear one-on-one with the keeper and coolly slotted the ball through the oncoming keeper’s legs to seal a 5-2 win.

* Ambleside beat Ulverston 4-0 in the Netherwood League as two young sides met. Rebecca Camp opened Ambleside’s account when was well positioned to despatch the shot into the back of the net.

Only two minutes later, Corrie Morris scored with a great strike which sailed past the keeper.

Ambleside’s captain Donna Robinson, who worked hard all game, scored a deserved goal just before half time.

After the break, Ulverston again worked hard and kept the score at 3 - 0 until the last minute when Chelsea Daley sauntered through the tiring defence and neatly slotted home to complete a 4-0 win.
