KIRKBY Lonsdale's stand-in captain, Tom Pickthall, has said the Underley Park side are keen to enact revenge on this weekend's opponents Morley.

The last time the two sides met, in May 2016, Morley secured an extra-time victory to gain promotion from the North One West division at Kirkby's expense.

The Cumbrians look to have leapfrogged the West Yorkshire side now, sitting five places and 16 points above them after eight Northern Premier Division games this season.

"We were unlucky that day," said Pickthall. "We were absolutely gutted, it was last kick of the game stuff that won it for them.

"But now we're going to the top teams and coming back with losing bonus points so we're not far off at all. This is a must win game for us and we're confident we do that. It would be very sweet."

Pickthall was speaking after Kirkby's 21-14 defeat to Lymm, whose only dropped points of the season came in a draw with Kendal.

Pickthall said: "It was a really spirited performance with a lot of experienced lads missing. Ben Walker, Dave Barton and Gareth Gore were all missing and the lads that stepped up did really well.

"You can see why they're at the top, they are a good, well-drilled side and to come away with the losing bonus point was probably a fair result."
