KENDAL Rugby went second in North One West after they put ten tries past Blackburn with no reply in a 73-0 victory at Mint Bridge.

Liam Hayton got the first try on the board for Kendal before James Gough, Jack Lashley, Nathan Wooff and Chris Downham all plunged over for a 33-0 at half-time.

After the break Danny Barker, Mark Carruthers, Damian Armstrong, Matty Houghton and Chris Park all went over to complete the rout over the newly-promoted visitors.

There was hardly a Kendal player on the pitch that hadn't bagged five points in the game and the victory left them two points behind leaders Kirkby Lonsdale with a game in hand.

The early exchanges were fairly even but in the 10th minute the Blackburn number eight Jordan Pearson was sent to the sin bin just before Hayton powered over after quarter of an hour.

Three minutes later Glenn Weightman almost got to the line and the resulting scrum led to Gough going over.

Then from another Weightman break out Lashley ended up getting the third try.

After 25 minutes the bonus point was Kendal's as Wooff went over just ahead of Downham scoring.

Early in the second half Blackburn were penalised for coming up in the scrum near their own line and from the resulting penalty Barker scored.

Four minutes later and Downham produced a good break and showed great footballing skills to hack the ball towards the Blackburn line and Carruthers was there to touch it down.

On the hour mark a late tackle from Blackburn flanker Liam Canning saw a few handbags and he was sent to the bin along with Gough.

Damian Armstrong then went over the line twice in a minute before Houghton followed up with his own try to put Kendal 68-0 in front.

The final try came from Park and Kendal will look to keep piling the pressure on Kirkby at the top when they travel to Warrington this weekend.
