AN ENTERTAINING game at Mint Bridge saw Kendal Colts pull off a vital 36-7 victory over visitors Makos.
The Under 18s side showed they are genuine title contenders as they impressed against a very strong visiting team who prior to the game had been on a good run of form.
Makos opened the scoring after 12 minutes with a converted try.
However, this early blow appeared to spur Kendal on and they seized full control of the game and put in one of their strongest performances of the season.
The Colts began to dominate play and a penalty by Samuel Coleman saw them edge to within four points of the visitors.
And within minutes, they were in front when Casey Morris grabbed a try after good work down the left from the hosts, with Coleman's conversion putting them 10-7 up.
The home side stretched their lead before the break when Jim O'Reilly capitalised on a mistake by the visitors before crashing over the try line.
And the second half saw Kendal increase their dominance as a second try from O'Reilly as well as further tries from Nathan Wilson and Matt Paxton stretched the lead.
Coleman converted all three scores as Mark Wood's team ran out comfortable winners, and they go into their next game at Wigan on Sunday in great form.
