Kendal rugby ace Mark Wilson impressed in England's volatile win over Wales at the weekend, despite having only played one game of rugby this year.

Wilson started at openside, with Tom Curry retaining the number eight shirt on the absence of Billy Vunipola. despite the fact Wilson is the more natural eight and Curry usually packs down as a flanker.

In an ill-tempered and at times fiery game, England brushed Wales aside in the first three quarters of the game before allowing Wales to within three points of a draw.

English loosehead Joe Marler has been cited for grabbing Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones' genitals, backrow Courtney Lawes has been cited for a high tackle on the same player, and Manu Tuilagi faces a disciplinary hearing after being shown a red card for a shot to George North's head. England's replacement loosehead Ellis Genge was also sinbinned.

Despite the final 33-30 scoreline, England looked comfortable throughout as their signature power game rocked Wales in both attack and defence.

Wilson may have a long wait for another cap, though, as the remaining games of the tournament have been delayed due to coronavirus fears.
