A MUSIC teacher from The Lakes School is celebrating turning 40 next year by undertaking a gruelling challenge for The Will Clark Fund.

During the year, Adam Theobald will be running at least one major race every month, notching up a total of ten half marathons and six marathons in 12 months.

He will be raising money for Will Clark, the Grasmere man left paralysed below the shoulders in 2012 after a cycling accident in a charity triathlon. Adam says he finds Will very ‘inspirational’.

Every penny raised will go towards the specialist equipment Will needs to fulfil his aim of getting back into the outdoors, after scaling his first Wainwright in his specially adapted mountain bike this year.

The Will Clark Fund is aiming to raise £350,000 to help support the former fellrunner so he can continue living in his home village. More than £11,000 was raised in just one night during a gala Season of Good Will dinner at the Daffodil Hotel, Grasmere, earlier this month.

In another significant development, Will was also given the keys to his new home in Grasmere, built as part of the new 15-home Broadgate affordable homes scheme by Impact Housing.

The property has been specially designed and fitted out to suit his particularly demanding needs as a tetraplegic.
