THREE rising young stars of classical music provide the silky sounds of Keswick Music Society's much awaited New Year concert. Suling King, Catriona McDermid and Mana Shibata and share the Theatre by the Lake stage on Sunday, January 6. The distinctive sounds of the bassoon and oboe are among the most evocative and haunting in classical music, and some wonderful music has been composed for each and for both together. Catriona and Mana are both award-winning instrumentalists as is pianist, Suling, who will take the audience on a musical journey performing works by composers such as Brahms, Poulenc and Britten. The programme is full of contrasts and ends with a trio by Poulenc. Catriona and Mana will present the pre-concert talk at 6.45pm before the concert at 7.30pm.
