In nineteen sixty eight I joined the Lake District CHA - HF Rambling Club based in Kendal.

I spent many happy times going to the various places in the Lakes and beyond.

One of the members was Roger Quillam whose photograph I saw in the Gazette.

He used to come with his aunty Mary.

I wish Roger and his wife all the best in their new venture.

Another former member of the club is the present Mayor of Kendal Richard Sutton.

I don't walk as good as I used to. I use a walking frame.

Sincerely,

Ian Fothergill
