A GRASS ROPE TO CATCH A UNICORN by Janet Rawlins, £20 in hardback
RENOWNED artist Yorkshire Janet Rawlins painted this collection of wild flowers as relaxation, while carrying out commissions for large scale machine-embroidered fabric collages.
Born in Horsforth, near Leeds, she has worked on children’s books, designed fabric collage and jigsaw puzzles, and for many years produced drawings and cover paintings for Dalesman magazine. Janet has held many solo exhibitions in Wensleydale.
For ‘A Dales Countryside Cookbook’, she produced more than 150 drawings in aid of the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawe. This is now in its second edition.
This latest book also has a charitable aim, with a £3 donation from each sale going to the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust to support the charity’s Hay Time project which aims to safeguard the future of precious wildflower hay meadows in the Dales.
