KENDAL Jazz Club is to welcome the Spirit of Shearing quartet on Wednesday evening (November 12).
Described as "a sparkling recreation of the sound of the famous George Shearing Quintet", the foursome consists of jazz guitarists Trefor Owen and Andy Hulme, Stuart Johnson on saxophone and Ed Harrison on double bass.
The line-up also sees one of the guitarists take on the role of pianist.
The group made its debut at the renowned Swansea Jazzland and has attracted acclaim for its close harmony sound and its performance of numbers such as Lullaby of Birdland, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, Laura, and Duke Ellington's In a Sentimental Mood.
See them at Hawkshead Brewery, Staveley, at 8pm. Tickets £10 for non-members.
