BACH'S Christmas Oratorio is one the major works featured in Furness Bach Choir's next concert.
Staged at Barrow's St James's Church on Saturday, November 26 (7.30pm), and conducted by Anthony Milledge, the acclaimed choir performs the first three cantatas which deal with the birth of Christ and the message of the angels to the shepherds in Bethlehem. The other work in the programme is Bach's setting of the Magnificat, written in 1723, and it is the first piece of music he wrote with a Latin text. FBC will be accompanied by a Baroque orchestra, the Holborne Players, and Colin Dean will play the chamber organ.
