INGLETON rocked to the sound of the Eliza Carthy Band last Saturday night when they topped the bill at the third Ingleton Folk Weekend. A capacity audience at the Community Centre was treated to a virtuoso performance by the young folk singer and fiddle player who was backed by top flight musicians John Spiers, Jon Boden and Ben Ivitsky. Community Centre manager David Butters said: “It was certainly a night to remember. Terrific.” Organisers estimate that more than 1,500 people took part in at least one of the many events.
There were workshops for Appalachian dancing and fiddle playing and the pubs were alive with impromptu music sessions.
