FROM the ashes of Absolute Proof a new duo has arisen with a new CD clutched firmly in hand.

Local saxophone/guitar duo of Paul Palmer and Richard Page have already made a name for themselves on the local circuit and, since their former band Absolute Proof came to an end, the musicians have been busy recording material together.

Next Thursday (October 16), will see them performing at The Brewery Arts Centre courtesy of Kendal Jazz Club.

On this occasion, however, Paul’s sinuous tenor and soprano saxes and Richard’s mellifluous guitar will be augmented by specially chosen guests including an experienced rhythm section - Dave Frew (piano), Roy Cansdale (double bass) and Peter Eddowes (drums).

Emma Smallman (vocals) and Bruce Carnaffin (clarinet and bass clarinet) have also been invited to join in for a few numbers, so there will be no lack of variety.

Palmer and Page have come up with a far-ranging programme comprising one or two old favourites and a couple of originals, but also a host of little-played gems composed between the 1930s and 1960s, in new arrangements.

Tickets are £6.50 on the door (£5 members, £3 students).
