JAZZ giant Courtney Pine comes to the Brewery Arts Centre next month.
One of the few UK artists to make a serious impression Stateside, Pine's latest project, Devotion, blends Asian harmonies and Afrobeat rhythms in a nu-jazz format.
Playing in the intimate surroundings of the Malt Room, jazz saxophonist Pine will be accompanied by special guests Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriela on February 10.
Both Rodrigo y Gabriela and their music feature in the films In America and Goldfish Memory and have even played for British Royalty. The duo have also performed as special guests for Damien Rice.
Courtney, who was awarded the OBE in 2000 for his services to Jazz, has continued his inspirational role at the forefront of UK Jazz. He still presents his regular Radio 2 slot, Jazz Crusade,' which has featured musicians of all genres from Radiohead to Herbie Hancock.
