AN ULVERSTON entrepreneur has set up his own unique business to bring hot tubs to the gardens of South Lakeland and beyond.
Leigh Mathieson, quit his job at a well-known estate agents in London and after long-awaited aspirations to set up his own business, he decided to do just that.
The 26-year-old set up Cumbria Hot Tub Hire, formally known as Furness Hot Tub Hire, 15 months ago and the business has since began to flourish.
He said: “I went to university at Nottingham and gained joint honours in Business Sport and Leisure and I always wanted to set up my own business but was not sure of what it was going to be.
“I always knew it would be a business that would offer something a little bit different though.”
Customers are wide ranging, from families to couples. The six or eight seater hot tubs are hired for parties, romantic special occasions, an ‘added extra’ at a holiday cottage and even the occasional Stag and Hen dos.
Leigh is the director of the company and the only member of staff.
“It’s just me heading the business at the moment but sometimes I get my Granddad to help out! I normally deliver the hot tub on the Thursday, which means it will be fully heated for Friday night and then I’ll come pick it up on the Sunday so it can be enjoyed the whole weekend,” he said.
