WHEN you were at school, the thought of wearing a midi length skirt most likely made you cringe. If anything, like me, you will have spent most mornings rolling up your skirt waistband as you walked to the school gates....
Fast forward 20 or so years, and A-listers from Rihanna to Alexa Chung are all regularly seen wearing longer skirt lengths and the High Street has an abundance of styles to emulate their look.
A high heel is almost always required to avoid any matronly connotations. Choose ‘sexier’ fabrics such as leather or bold prints and team with cropped shirts and fitted sweaters and tees.
Full midi skirts first appeared on the high street last year in the spring/summer months, they stuck around for the autumn/winter too and now they are back for this spring/summer 2014.
They are the perfect fashion item for effortless style. They are timeless, classy and extremely chic. I love this black number from ASOS (www.asos.com), both elegant and stylish.
This timeless piece is £28 and it will be in my wardrobe as you read this! For a more bold look, try this River Island midi, daring but beautiful. A bargain at £20.
This leopard print number from Warehouse is equally striking but paired with some black sky scraper heels and black sweater and the look is complete. Again, at a bargain price of £28, you can’t really afford not to grab your waistband by the horns and try a midi.
