A CHARITABLE bookshop has raised more than £400 for a Lake District mountain rescue team.
Fred Holdsworth’s Bookshop, based at Central Buildings, Ambleside, has put aside 5p from the sale of any book priced over £5 for the last year.
As a result, £450 will be donated to Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue (LAMRT), who last year were involved in 97 rescues.
“Retailing is tough everywhere and these days people are very price conscious but if we can put something back into the local community and continue supporting good causes that's a good thing," said owner Steve Baskerville-Muscott.
The shop is also currently offering a free World Book Day book to any child, while stocks last.
