AN animal welfare charity has praised Cumbria Police for ‘leading the way’ in the fight against wildlife crime.
World Animal Protection has said Cumbria Constabulary is one of the leading forces in the country tackling the issue.
Cumbria Police has a dedicated full-time wildlife crime co-ordinator and, in 2013, started the ‘Shine a Light’ appeal aimed at encouraging people to report wildlife crime.
And Cumbria is also one of the leading forces feeding intelligence back to the National Wildlife Crime Unit, which helps provide an accurate perspective of wildlife crime intelligence across England and Wales.
