THIS year’s Kendal Calling festival raised £56,155 for local charities – more than twice as much as last year’s total of £20,000.
The charities that will benefit are Alder Hey Children’s Charity, Guide Dogs UK, Hospice At Home (Carlisle and North Lakeland), North West Air Ambulance, Oxfam, Penrith Lions, David Lynch Foundation and Save The Children Gaza Appeal.
The majority of the money raised was through donations from guests, as well as £22,000 raised through the Oxfam festival shop and more than £2,000 for Hospice at Home by selling sunflowers that adorned festival goers and their tents.
