A TAKEAWAY in Bowness was left with ‘extensive fire damage’ after an electrical fire in the kitchen.
Heavy smoke was issuing from the building when firefighters arrived at 6.20am today (Tuesday), and nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.
The fire was in the kitchen area on the ground floor of the three storey Charcoal Grill property on St Martin's Place.

The crews gained access and firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the blaze.
A main jet was also used outside the premises.
Watch Manager Phil Stannet said no-one was injured but the kitchen was left ‘badly damaged’.
