AN INQUEST will open tomorrow (Friday) into the death of a 76-year-old Kendal woman who was killed in a one-vehicle crash on the A6.
Police said Carole Christine Maltby, of High Sparrowmire, Hallgarth, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash, near Shap Wells Hotel, last Wednesday morning.
She was a passenger in a red Suzuki Swift driven by a 51-year-old woman, also from the Kendal area.
The driver was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance and was treated for minor injuries.
The inquest will be opened by David Roberts at the Coroner's Court, Station Road in Cockermouth at 1pm.
