LATEST research reveals many of the UK's leaf beetles and stoneflies are on a ‘red list’ of species that are under threat of local extinction.
The two new reports from the Species Status Project have been published by Natural England in collaboration with Buglife.
They assess the conservation status of two groups of insects - leaf beetles (named after their habit of eating leaves) and stoneflies (aquatic species found in rivers and streams) – and classifies them as either ‘vulnerable’, ‘endangered’ or ‘critically endangered’ .
