AWARD-winning architectural and sculptural metalworkers Chris Brammall Ltd in Ulverston has been commissioned to create a brand new, bespoke metal award for the 2015 Cumbria Tourism Awards.

Chris Brammall’s iconic works can be found in public spaces throughout the UK and include several renowned and well recognised pieces in Cumbria such as the Brockhole Jetty and the performance area on The Glebe, Bowness-on-Windermere.

The new Cumbria Tourism Awards are inspired by the mountains and valleys of the Lake District and will be individually hand-crafted in steel with ribbons of copper.

The final design will be revealed for the first time to the Cumbria Tourism Award winners announced at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal in June.

Mr Brammall, director and founder of Chris Brammall Ltd, said: “The finished design will be something quite special, celebrating my Lake District roots and showcasing the hand forged interiors side of the business which compliments the architectural sculptural metalwork."

Ian Stephens, managing director of Cumbria Tourism, said: “The Cumbria Tourism Awards celebrate and recognise quality and excellence across the county, and it is fitting that such beautiful and iconic pieces are created to reward their achievements.”

There are 15 award categories in total which celebrate the huge range and diversity of Cumbria’s tourism industry.

The majority of the winners from the awards will go on to represent the county at the Visit England Awards for Excellence in 2016.
