HISTORIAN David Starkey CBE reveals the true story behind the Magna Carta and its influence on Britain today, in a one-off lecture at the Rheged Centre, Penrith. on June 11 at 7pm.
The former Kendal Grammar School pupil will reveal how the founder of Cartmel Priory, William Marshal, played a key role in convincing King John to accept the ‘Great Charter’ and seal the Magna Carta at Runnymede in June 1215.
