THE Windermere branch of the Yorkshire Building Society is proving small change can really make a difference by putting £1,000 donated by its members up for grabs to three local charities.
Staff at the branch on Crescent Road are inviting people to call in over the next two weeks and vote for their favourite of the three charities - Cumbria Wildlife Trust, South Lakeland Carers and Bowness & Windermere Community Care Trust - to decide how the money will be split in society's Charity Choices campaign.
The number of votes received for each charity by Friday, June 19, will determine the amount of money each receives; the one with the most will receive £500, second place will get £300 and £200 will go to the charity in third.
